Here are some relevant comps I was working off of:

Here is a new font_test I did of a couple different fonts for my biz site navigation:
Here are a few new background colors as well as the status of my site after some tweaking this morning:

  1. Michael,
The header for the brooklyn bridge looks good. My next comment is that the nav text (button text) looks clunky and oversized by comparison. I would converse with your classmates from Design and see what they suggest. I would recommend testing a series of different type treatments. Screen shotting each (bad grammar). Then compare side by side.

  2. Also, when you post web addresses on the blog, make them links.

  3. On your sustainability site, the proof of concept seems to work well. There are lots of little tweaks you could do to improve the pacing of scraping through the peanuts. The "punch line" of seeing the mobile interface of Amazon is a little bit of an extended joke for me. Perhaps this could be addressed with an appropriately page title in the browser chrome. Something like "good things come in small packaging' (A play on 'good things come in small packages'). I think that the smallness of the mobile interface doesn't yet make sense as part of the communication.

    Good work.

  4. Thanks for the feedback Zark, I'll definitely try out some different fonts on the biz site and see what works. I'm still thinking a serif font in there, but I'll try a few options.

  5. And I'd written down the "good things come in small packages/packaging" as an idea but wondered if it might be too cheesy. It's worth a shot though!

  6. I love the colors in your Brooklyn Bridge site, but I think I'd rather see a deep brown hue in the background instead of black. I'd experiment more with that header font, I think you can find a better one. If you're stuck for ideas, try finding a good script-y logo that you like and try to recreate what works about it.

  7. I think i might make those buttons smaller. I'm also not fond of italics, i just don't think they're easy to read...but that might just be me!

oh, and your sustainability site is just cool. good job!

  9. Awesome! I voted for the top left font too! And the color in the background is actually supposed to be a dark blue but it renders a lot darker on the computers at school than on my computer at home. I'll try the brown you suggested to see if it works. Thanks for the font advice! I'll also look into making the nav buttons smaller. I think their size adds to the chunky-ness Zark was talking about. Thanks for all the help guys!
