Samantha, Your design is much cleaner than the original. Very simple and elegant. The issue for me is that the yellow banding is now forming a big yellow cross. "Happy Easter" Perhaps you might try it with two different colors or end the vertical at the crossbar (logo).

Haha, yeah I can see that about the yellow. I made it yellow because when that picture was in color that tree was a nice autumn yellow and i was going off of that. Maybe I should change it to a shade of blue because that's what the original identity is? I was thinking of putting the content (sub pages) in a box in that open area of the photograph.
I'm really getting the feel of that Harvard book store site you showed us...which is awesomeness. Real clean design. Certainly elevated their store to a much more professional look.
You've definitely simplified it (and classed it up a little too lol). I like the direction it's going in.

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking a nice dark blue would work or even a crimson color. But, you're also talking to a guy who loves dark colors in design
